Hooligan Racer Alex Childs
Georgia’s first and only Hooligan racer, Alex Childs comes from a small town in Atlanta. A bike builder at heart, Alex is the single owner and operator of a small shop called, Vandals Moto, where Alex builds and customizes metric and American bikes. After spending the past few years building bikes for special clients and events like the Handbuilt Show and Mamas Tried, Alex slowly started backing away from building bikes full-time to dabbling in a lil bit of Hooligan and Flat Track racing which quickly turned into a full-time obsession. Racing almost 40 weekends of the 52 weekends in 2019, Alex came out swinging in his rookie season, from Daytona Bike Week to Born Free in California, X Games and the famous Sturgis Rally, Alex racked up 35,000 miles on his race van in the first year alone.
When Alex started racing it was only Natural for Alex to reach out to Devin at CognitoMoto. Alex has been working with Devin and Nick running their Cognito parts for years on his bikes and builds. When it comes to front end swaps Cognito is the best in the game so doing a front end conversion on his 1999 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 was a given. We picked a GSXR fork setup and ran a special set of triple clamps Cognito made to handle the extreme conditions we were going to push this sportster on dirt short tracks and half-mile monster stock car tracks.
2020 is looking a lot like 2019, racing everywhere and every weekend. Look for Alex riding his Sportster Hooligan bike and his new addition to the race fleet his brand new 2019 Honda CRF450 ready Flat Track with some of the best of the flat trackers in the country. Come join the ride.
