The concept behind this rear light bracket for the rear subframe is really excellent. Unfortunately, my experience with the part itself has been somewhat disappointing.
The machining quality and, especially, the finishing could definitely be improved. The milling marks are quite visible and relatively deep, and I had to rework the part myself using a belt sander to achieve a smooth finish. This took quite a bit of additional time and effort.
On top of that, importing the part into France brought the total cost of the bracket to almost €100 (around $115). I understand that customs duties and taxes are not directly under your control, but they obviously add to the overall cost.
The biggest issue, however, is the Hawk Eye rear light. It is unfortunately very difficult to find in Europe and seems to require importing from the US. I was also told by a US-parts importer that KOSO apparently no longer produces this particular model. The few units I have been able to find are now selling for two to three times the price they used to be, when they were available in Europe for around €43.
As a result, the complete setup — bracket and rear light — is likely to cost me close to €200 (around $231), which is quite a bit more than I initially expected for such a small rear light assembly.
That being said, I really want to emphasize that I think the concept and design of the bracket are excellent. It's a clever solution, and that's actually why I'm disappointed that the overall experience hasn't matched the quality of the idea.
If you happen to still have a HawkEye taillight red available, I would of course be very interested to hear about it. And, considering the finishing issues I experienced with the bracket, if this was perhaps an isolated issue or a batch that didn't meet your usual quality standards, I would also really appreciate it if you could consider some kind of commercial gesture.
I would genuinely have preferred to leave a much more positive review, but I wanted to give you an honest account of my experience. Hopefully this feedback can also help improve the product for future customers.
